Due to the significant difference in physiographic regions throughout the U.S., the U.S. Army
Corps of Engineers (USACE) have long realized that one nation-wide wetland delineation
manual is too generalized and does not adequately address all of the different wetland
systems, conditions, and indicators found throughout the country. In response to the
inadequacy of the 1987 Wetland Delineation Manual the USACE began issuing out Regional
Supplements to the 1987 Wetland Delineation Manual. All supplements throughout the U.S.
are to be implemented by the end of 2010.
The course is designed for delineators with experience in the 1987 Wetland Delineation
Manual and will concentrate on the already implemented Atlantic and Gulf Coastal Plain
Regional Supplement and the proposed Eastern Mountains and Piedmont Regional Supplement.
The course will familiarize participants with the material contained in the two new Regional
Supplements and will show the changes to identifying wetland vegetation, hydric soils,
wetland hydrology, and the newly approved wetland data forms.
The course will be held in the field with hands-on demonstrations and examples.
This course meets the requirements for GADOT prequalified consultants.
