Acquire the skills needed to identify and flag wetland boundaries using the 1987 U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Wetland Delineation Manual and the new 2008 Atlantic and Gulf Coastal Plain Regional Supplement (Regional Supplement), an excellent, more refined delineation methodology. Participants will learn how to identify wetland vegetation, hydric soils, and wetland hydrology in several different wetland systems, such as head-water streams, riverine, marshes, depressions, seeps, flats, and prepare a proper report for USACE approval.
One extra day has been added to our Basic Delineation course due to the changes in USACE requirements for wetland delineations. The new requirements, in addition to the 2008 Regional Supplement is the new Jurisdictional Determination Form (commonly called the Rapanos form) Due to the recent court rulings regarding Rapanos (2006), the USACE has released interim guidance and a new approved Jurisdictional Determination Form. This form requires delineator's to document conditions in regard to hydrology and connectivity (significant “nexus”) to a much greater degree than before.
